In Loving Memory
1969-2007
Shihan Stuart Cohen
6th Degree Black Belt
Ryu Renshi-Dan Karate--Senior Instructor
No one embodied the spirit and ideals of RR-D more than our beloved and respected Shihan, Stuart Cohen. We are all profoundly saddened, and diminished, by his untimely death on April 8th, 2007.
Shihan came to RR-D as a teenager and earned his Black Belt in 1987. He was a nationally- ranked competitor and Captain of the NEMAC team which consistently brought home the gold from tournaments far and wide. As a student, Stuart always set the standard for himself and his classmates. As an instructor, he demanded as much from himself as he did from our students. Shihan's guiding presence will continue to be felt at all of our dojos.
Stuart's total dedication and commitment to his family, his work, his students, and his community are well-known to all who knew him. Less well known are the countless contributions he made to the betterment of all whom he encountered, through his deep compassion, his tireless volunteer work, his extended helping hand, and his boundless sense of humor.
Nothing we can say here can add one iota to the outstanding reputation Stuart built during his lifetime. Shihan was a dedicated Law Enforcement Officer, Volunteer Fireman, Karate Master Instructor and loving father and husband who will be truly missed by all who were blessed to have known him.
